Saturday 21st June, the longest day of the year. Two groups each with five members set off on their ~15km routes in, to quote Pete, somewhat “moist” weather. With both groups making good time, they arrived at the Castle Inn campsite to dry off in their tents and prepare their evening meals: pasta and dolmio sauce followed by chocolate roll and custard.
Sunday 22nd June began considerably warmer, yet uncommonly windy for the time of year. The groups left camp around 9.30am to make good progress throughout the day, stopping for an occasional photo…

This Spring marks a special occasion for the 34th. In light of the Scouting Movement celebrating just over 100 years of Scouting (see Centenary of Scouting ), the 34th is following procedures to rebrand in recognition of this event and will soon become known as “134th Nottingham Scouts”.
Groups that have already rebranded include 124th Nottingham Scouts and 121st Glasgow Scouts
The ‘upgrade’ will mark the beginning of a new era of Scouting at 34th 134th Nottingham and we look forward to hearing your comments and ideas for the future.
Yours,
Shirley Knot

From the 5th to the 7th October, the ESU visited Snowdonia in order to partake in some mountain walking (and a touch of scrambling) as part of D of E practice (year 11 and 12) or for a jolly (year 13). So jolly in fact that a clownfish turned up whilst summitting the likes of Pen-yr-ole-Wen, Cardnedd Dafydd, and Carnedd Llewelyn (year 12 and 13), whilst year 11 explored the rocky outcrops that are the Glyderau (Glyders). The following album is exclusively taken from the 5th October, the base “Yr Hafod“.

So the D of E expeditions complete, Summer Camp been and gone, the Jamboree packing up… that must have been the end of the Summer Holidays then? Hah. Our second camp this year took us to Hay-on-Wye, a favourite spot, and again let us partake in multi-activity days such as canoeing, rafting, trekking, and monkeying about, quite literally. There was also a lot of spare willow left lying around which Pete kindly spent all week sawing up…
